The three newest sizes of the Gurkha Colección Especial line are on their way to stores.

Gurkha debuted the line in March as an exclusive release for the Tobacconists’ Association of America, releasing the cigar to those retailers in a 5 1/4 x 58 perfecto vitola. After shipping that cigar in June, the company unveiled three new vitolas at the 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show, limiting the release to 150 across the country:

  • Gurkha Colección Especial Robusto (5 x 52) — $12.95 (Box of 10, $129.50)
  • Gurkha Colección Especial Lonsdale (6 1/2 x 48) — $13.95 (Box of 10, $139.50)
  • Gurkha Colección Especial Toro (6 x 54) — $14.95 (Box of 10, $149.50)

The blend features a Connecticut hybrid wrapper over a Sumatra binder grown in Mexico and a filler blend made up of Connecticut broadleaf from the U.S. as well as habano seco and ligero leaves from undisclosed origins. The line is produced by PDR Cigars in the Dominican Republic.

“The Colección Especial was an immediate hit for everyone that had a chance to taste it at the show,” said Juan Lopez, vp of sales for Gurkha, in a press release. “It’s hybrid Connecticut wrapper boasts a creamy and earthy, smooth and mild profile; something Gurkha hasn’t had in a long time. It’s an easy smoke for any time of the day.”

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
