Gurkha Cigars has begun shipping its 15-Year Cellar Reserve cigar to stores across the United States.

The new release was announced back in March as a cigar that will celebrate the Cellar Reserve line being on the market for 10 years. The Gurkha Cellar Reserve was Gurkha’s first release that was designate as a brick-and-mortar exclusive.

“The Cellar Reserve has always been very well received and garners amazing ratings and this special edition is no different,” said Kaizad Hansotia, ceo of Gurkha Cigars, via a press release. “Stores loved this cigars as will cigar lovers and we are excited to finally be able to make it available so Gurkha fans can enjoy it,” he added.

For the 15-Year Cellar Reserve, an Ecuadorian rosado wrapper was selected to sit on top of a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Nicaragua’s Jalapa, Condega, and Esteli regions. It’s available in a single 6 x 52 toro vitola, with the finished cigars presented in a limited edition, individually numbered humidor of 50 cigars, which just 1,000 humidors produced. A full humidor sells for $700, while individual cigars sell for $14 each.

Gurkha launched the Cellar Reserve line in 2007 with a Dominican puro, updating the line’s packaging in 2011 and adding a cigar noted for the use of at least some 15-year-old-tobacco. In 2013, the company added the Cellar Reserve Limitada, using a Brazilian Arapiraca maduro wrapper over Dominican fillers. Since then, each new year has brought a new installment to the series, as the Cellar Reserve Edición Especial Solara (18) was released in 2014 and the Cellar Reserve Platinum (12) was released in 2015. In 2016, Gurkha added the Cellar Reserve 21, which uses a Connecticut shade grown wrapper over binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
