After being off the market for several years, Gurkha is bringing back its Pure Evil line and relaunching it at next month’s PCA Convention & Trade Show.
“The brand was released on a limited basis about 15 years ago,” said Juan Lopez, vp of sales for Gurkha Cigars, via a press release. “We found the blend while visiting the factory in Nicaragua and we’re happy to bring back the old favorite with a new twist.”
The blend features an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler, which Lopez described as having “hints of earth and spice with a smooth, clean finish.” It is being made by American Caribbean Cigars and will be offered in three vitolas:
- Gurkha Pure Evil Robusto (5 x 52) — $8.95 (Box of 20, $179)
- Gurkha Pure Evil Toro (6 x 54) — $9.50 (Box of 20, $190)
- Gurkha Pure Evil XO (6 x 60) — $9.95 (Box of 20, $199)
The company anticipates that the Gurkha Pure Evil will begin shipping to retailers within the next 45 days, which would have them in stores in mid-August. While the original version was a limited production, this will be an ongoing, regularly produced line.
The PCA Convention & Trade Show runs from July 8 – 12 in Las Vegas.
