The Griffin’s Releases 2013 Special Edition Club Series I
A new special edition from The Griffin’s will soon be hitting retail shelves, as Oettinger Davidoff AG is slated to begin shipping the cigars on November 25.
The Griffin’s 2013 Special Edition Club Series I is the first of a three-part cigar series. The first cigar in the line uses a Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, Dominican Yamasa binder and a filler blend of San Vicente Seco, Piloto Visus and Olor Visus. It is being made in a single 5 1/2 x 52 Robusto vitola and comes packed in 10-count boxes. MSRP is $15.88 per cigar, or $158.80 per box of ten.
It is described as starting with a strong woody taste that is enhanced by a subtle sweetness, with flavors of dry fruits, nuts and flowers in the mix. The second third is dominated with an aftertaste of black coffee and slight pepper notes that combine with the lingering sweetness. The cigar closes with increased notes of pepper for a strong finale. Its pairing suggestions include single malt whiskeys or spicier rums.
The bulk of the cigars will be destined for non-US retailers, as only 3,000 of the 4,000 boxes being produced are destined for worldwide distribution.
The line will be completed with the release of the Club Series II and Club Series III, which the company says are designed to be displayed next to each and will deliver a whole picture of the Club Series theme. Release dates for the second and third cigars have not been announced.
