For a company best known for its red packaging, Gran Habano is tapping two other colors for its newest line, called Blue In Green.

It’s a Connecticut wrapper cigar with a binder and filler of Nicaraguan tobacco, with the company calling it a medium-bodied blend that is designed to embody “the rich nuances of its fillers.” The company also notes it is a “limited/seasonal release,” though declined to go into any specifics about production, which is being handled by the company’s G.R. Tabacalera Unidas factory in Honduras.

It will be offered in three sizes, each in 20-count boxes:

  • Gran Habano Blue In Green 6 x 54
  • Gran Habano Blue In Green 5 x 52
  • Gran Habano Blue In Green 7 x 48

Individual cigars will be priced between $6.70 and $7.30. Gran Habano will formally unveil Blue In Green at the upcoming IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, which runs from July 13-17 in Las Vegas, Nev. Shipping is scheduled to begin after the trade show.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
