Gotham Cigars, LLC—parent of Gothamcigars.com, an online cigar retailer—has announced that it is rebranding itself to NGG Capital as part of a series of moves that could include it acquiring other businesses.

One of the other moves is the hiring of Kelly Michols, the former president of STG Lane, Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s U.S. pipe tobacco and little cigar division. Michols joins NGG Capital as the company’s coo and will report to Manny Balani, the company’s ceo and owner. Michols has also worked in the nutritional supplements industry, which is helpful given that NGG Capital includes A1Supplements, an online supplements retailer. The NGG name is also used by NGG Distributors, a tobacco distributor.

Perhaps most notable, the company is explicit that it is interested in acquiring other online retailers, though those targets may or may not be in the tobacco or supplements categories.

“The name change to NGG Capital is in response to our company’s growth and is in alignment with our corporate vision.” says Balani in a press release. “While growing Gotham Cigars and A1 Supplements will continue to be our focus, we plan to add additional on-line retail businesses to our portfolio as we identify them. NGG Capital provides a foundation that will allow us to easily integrate these new opportunities into our current business in a seamless and efficient way. We are very excited about our future.”
