There will be a second A.J. Fernández-made Hoyo de Monterrey.

At tomorrow’s IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, General Cigar Co. will introduce the Hoyo La Amistad Silver, a new three-size line that follows up on the Hoyo La Amistad which was introduced last year. The La Amistad Silver uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper and fillers from Fernández’s farms in Condega and Estelí, Nicaragua.

“It is an honor to blend for Hoyo because it reminds me how far I’ve come and gives me a chance to reflect on my roots,” said Abdel Fernández, founder of A.J. Fernández, in a press release. ”

“Growing up in Cuba near to the Hoyo de Monterrey tobacco farms left a big impression on me. Those fields will always remind me of home. So when I came to develop the second blend in the Hoyo La Amistad series, I wanted to honor the Cuban tradition of Hoyo by making a cigar with all Cuban-seed tobaccos. In this project, I used tobaccos that I grew on my farms in Nicaragua, so this is very special to me personally.”

The cigar is offered in three sizes.

  • Hoyo La Amistad Silver Robusto (5 x 50) — $6.99 (Boxes of 20, ($139.80)
  • Hoyo La Amistad Silver Pancho (5 1/2 x 52) — $7.49 (Boxes of 20, $149.80)
  • Hoyo La Amistad Silver Churchill (6 7/8 x 48) — $7.99 (Boxes of 20, $159.80)

General says the cigars will begin shipping in mid-August.
