Garo Cigars’ New Adamas Line Aimed at Big Ring Gauge Fans

In the May announcement that Garo Cigars was getting a new look, there was mention that a new line would soon be released by the company in time for the IPCPR Convention and Trade Show. That line has been announced, and it is a trio of big ring gauges called Adamas.

Harout Bouldoukian shared the news of his latest creation with halfwheel today, the third cigar of the trio that is spearheading the rebranding, and re-imagining of the company in the cigar industry. He said he wanted his new cigar to be one that delivers at every stage while filling the gap between the Garo Maduro Especial and the Edicion Limitada.

“We started with the Maduro Especial and moved onto our limited edition blend, but we wanted something more. Something different, for us,” said Bouldoukian. Nothing in the company’s portfolio had been bigger than a 58 ring gauge, but this new line leaves that previous mark in the dust.

The Garo Adamas comes in three sizes, all with a 64 ring gauge. The Garo Adamas A45 is a 4 1/2 x 64, the A55 measures 5 1/2 x 64 and the A7 is a 7 x 64, with MSRPs of $10.99, $12.99 and $14.99, respectively. Each size comes in 21-count boxes.

The wrapper is an Ecuadoran Habano 2000 Ecuador, while the binder is Dominican Olor and the filler is Ecuadorian Criollo ’98. “I had this blend ready for a while, but I saved it for the new label. It is a big ring gauge, but it doesn’t overpower you” noted Bouldoukian. The flavor is said to start with a fresh, clean tobacco taste that quickly gives way to a distinct spiciness before settling into coffee-like notes mixed with nuts and leather in the first half. The second half of the cigar offers mocha and exotic floral notes that lead to a beautifully-nuanced finish.

Production is being handled by Tabaccalera Cinqo Estrellas/GARO in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and the line is expected to begin shipping in September. The line will be a regular part of Garo Cigars’ portfolio.

About the author

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. I previously covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
