On Friday, the Florida Senate passed a bill that would allow for municipalities and counties to regulate smoking on all property they own.

Under current law, regulation of smoking is regulated by the state, not cities and counties. However, S.B. 562 would allow for cities and counties to enact stricter laws than the state smoking laws on any property they own. Current law only allows for stricter laws from cities and counties on schools and school district-owned property.

S.B. 562 passed 36-1. It now moves to the Florida House of Representatives.
