Fayetteville, Ark. could ban smoking at its parks and trails.

The Fayetteville City Council will take up the matter next week, which would ban smoking and the use of smokeless tobacco at the city’s parks and trails. Nicotine cessation products like gum and patches would still be allowed.

If passed, violators would be subject to a $50 fine.

Fayetteville is the third largest city in the state with a population around 80,000. It is located in the northwest part of the state, 20 miles east of the Arkansas border and 30 miles south of Missouri.
