Favilli S.A. and Diplomático, a Venezuela rum brand, are discontinuing the Diplomático cigar line this month.

Introduced three years ago, the three-vitola line was created to pair with Diplomático rum and designed to look like the Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva rum brand. It used an Ecuadorian habano wrapper over a binder from Jalapa, Nicaragua and fillers from three Nicaraguan regions: Condega, Estelí and Jalapa.

The line was introduced in 2019, when Favilli was still using the “Mombacho Cigars S.A.” name, and branded as Diplomático by Mombacho Cigars S.A. except in Germany where Diplomático is sold under the name Botucal.

“It was a pleasure to be able to collaborate and work with Diplomático Rum for the time I’ve been with Favilli, their team is filled with outstanding folks,” said Jared Michaeli, president and co-founder of Favilli, in a press release. “The project was a success and was so well received by many. For that we are thankful, and especially thankful for Diplomático’s support during the sales and growth of the project. It is always nice to work with a large company who has a clear vision and solid drive, and I am thankful for the learning experience and time spent on this great partnership. I extend my gratitude to Diplomático Rum and all our clients and markets who have supported and helped grow the brand.”
