Gary Griffith of Emilio Cigars announced via Facebook late Thursday night that he has entered into an agreement with Noel Rojas of Guayacan Cigars to distribute the line.

Griffith said more information would be coming soon via the Emilio Cigars sales team, but described Guayacan as a “remarkable new cigar” and Rojas as “a remarkable young man.” Guayacan made their IPCPR convention and trade show debut recently in Orlando, and both manufacturers participated in the recent Chattanooga Tweetup event. The company is based in Esteli, Nicaragua with an initial line that includes four vitolas: a 6 x 52 Toro, 7 x 50 box-pressed Churchill, 5 x 50 Robusto and 6 1/8 x 52 Torpedo. The filler and binder is Corojo ’98 that comes from Casa Fernandez, while the wrapper is Ecuadoran Habano. MSRP for the line is between $5.90 – $6.50 per stick, and all come in 25-count boxes. Rojas’ initial run totaled 10,000 total cigars across the four sizes.

Guayacan Cigars becomes the third company to enter into a distribution agreement with Emilio Cigars, joining Herederos de Robaina and Rodrigo Cigars.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
