Elie Bleu’s cigar cutter portfolio includes various guillotine cigar cutters and cigar scissors, but later this year, the company will begin shipping its first v-cutter.
The Elie Bleu C-5 V Cigar Cutter measures 2.56 inches x 1.75 inches x .31 inches. The cutter opens by applying light pressure to the top, which releases the blade. That same mechanism applies resistance while the blade is pushed down to cut the cigar. The company describes the cut as a “deep V,” something that has become more popular in the last decade.
One interesting feature is located at the bottom of the cutter, a small rectangular opening. That is designed to allow for the small remnants of tobacco to fall out of the cutter. Elie Bleu says this is to help the longevity of the cutter. The theory is that if those small bits—some of which may not be visible to the naked eye—have nowhere to go, they will stay in the cutter, including the tracks where the blade travels. If that happens, it can cause the blades to jam.
