A new Edición Regional is about to his store shelves in Lebanon, as Phoenicia Trading A.A. has announced the upcoming release of the El Rey del Mundo WIH 20.

The new cigar is set to be available at retail in the coming week, including in the humidor that inspired its unique name. WIH 20 is a nod the 20th anniversary of the first and biggest walk-in humidor in the duty free market, which happens to be located in Lebanon’s Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport. That store opened in 1997, and some quick math would indicate that the cigar should have been released in 2017, however unspecified delays pushed it into early 2019.

The cigar measures 5 7/8 x 54, a vitola known as the Geniales that was also used for the Diplómaticos Ammunition, an Edición Regional for Phoenicia Trading’s territory. For more widely available cigars, the size is used by the Montercristo Open Eagle, Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo du San Juan, San Cristóbal Torreon and H.Upmann Connoisseur B.

A run of 8,000 boxes of 25 cigars were produced, a total of 200,000 total cigars. Pricing has not yet been announced by the distributor.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. I previously covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
