Last night, the Edina City Council raised the minimum age to purchase all tobacco products from 18 to 21.

Edina is the first city in Minnesota to raise the minimum age to purchase tobacco to 21.

The new law will go into effect on July 1.

Edina is located in Hennepin County, located just over 5 miles southwest of downtown Minneapolis. It has a population of around 50,000.
