E.P. Carrillo Ships Perez-Carrillo Parientes to Retailers
After a bit of a delay, the newest size in E.P. Carrillo’s Perez-Carrillo La Historia line is on its way to retailers, as the company has begun shipping the Parientes, a 6 1/2 x 43 lonsdale vitola.
Like the rest of the La Historia line, it uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, an Ecuadorian Sumatra filler and Nicaraguan filler. Unlike the rest of the line, which is offered in 10-count boxes, the Parientes will be offered in 20-count boxes.
The cigar has an MSRP of $10.50 and will be limited in production, with 500 boxes of 20 cigars produced in the initial run. However, Lissette Perez-Carrillo told halfwheel that she expects to be able to release more throughout the year as production capacity allows.
The name Parientes was selected as a tribute to the Perez-Carrillo family, as the word is Spanish for family members or relatives.
“My hope is that families everywhere will welcome this cigar into their lives and will break out a box whenever there are friends and families having recollections of times gone by or making new memories,” said Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr. via a press release.
It becomes the fifth regular production size in the line, which debuted in 2014:
- Perez-Carrillo La Historia El Senador (5 3/8 x 52)
- Perez-Carrillo La Historia Regalias D’Celia Piramides (5 7/8 x 58)
- Perez-Carrillo La Historia Doña Elena (6 1/8 x 50)
- Perez-Carrillo La Historia E-III (6 7/8 x 54)
- Perez-Carrillo La Historia Parientes (6 1/2 x 43)
The company also released a size for the Tobacconists’ Association of America, a 6 x 56 toro gordo that appeared in 2019. Also that year, the line was part of a limited edition 10th Anniversary release that included a 6 1/2 x 56 box-pressed, double figurado vitola of the La Historia and Encore lines.
The company credits former COO Selim Hanono with pushing for the vitola, having helped start production in 2020 prior to his departure in December of that year. “Parientes is very much a testament to Selim’s tireless dedication to helping us bring the best cigars to the market,” said Ernesto Perez-Carrillo Jr.
The company announced that the cigar began shipping via Cigar Aficionado, and has since confirmed the accuracy of that report.
