Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust is slated to have a number of new projects coming out in the coming year, including a new line called Overseas. But as the name suggests, it won’t be available to consumers in the U.S., as it will only be offered to international markets.

Steve Saka, Dunbarton’s founder, recently announced the line via Facebook, posting a picture of an uncut sheet of bands that the cigars will wear. He has been quiet about the specifics of the cigar but did say that he for Overseas to be a “dedicated brand that we can build on for years with a simple liga number designator.” This seemingly corresponds to the number one seen on the right side of the bands.

Saka said he has been working on the blend for approximately a year and has already released some samples to distributors. The line is scheduled to make its debut at InterTabac 2024, a trade show held in Dortmund, Germany from Sept. 19-21. He added he wasn’t sure if the packaging would be done by that time, nor exactly when the cigars would arrive on store shelves, nor what it would cost, noting that prices can vary widely from country to country based on local taxes.

Additional details about Overseas are expected in about a month or so, with Saka telling halfwheel he has set a deadline of Sept. 1 to announce the line.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
