During its Freestyle Live show on Wednesday, Drew Estate the return of the Sweet Jane Dia de Los Muertos, a cigar that debuted in 2019 and celebrates the Day of the Dead holiday with a limited edition release.
The cigar is a 6 x 52 box-pressed toro, though the specifics of the blend were not disclosed. It is a limited edition, but production numbers were not announced, nor was pricing. The Sweet Jane Dia de Los Muertos is expected to begin shipping next month and will be available to all Drew Estate retailers, and will come in updated packaging. Previously, the cigar had only been available to Drew Estate-branded lounges.
For non-U.S. markets, the company is releasing the Liga Privada Selección de Mercado Corona ¡Viva!, a 6 x 46 corona that will debut in September. Launch events will be held in Switzerland, Germany and Spain.
While the cigar isn’t available in the U.S., the wrapper comes from Connecticut, with a rosado criollo leaf selected for the project. Underneath that is a Mexican San Andrés Negro binder and fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua. While the blend is similar to that of the U.S. version of the Liga Privada 10 Aniversario, the filler is different, as the U.S. version has fillers from Nicaragua and Pennsylvania, including the infamous Green River One Sucker ligero. The resulting change is said to make the Selección de Mercado smoother than the original Liga Privada 10 Aniversario.
The Liga Privada 10 Aniversario Selección de Mercado debuted in September 2023 to give international markets access to a limited-production cigar that had only been available in the United States. Thus far, it has only been released in a 6 x 52 toro vitola.
Additionally, the company announced that the Liga Privada H99 Connecticut Corojo Flying Pig will be the featured cigar at its events beginning in September through the end of the year. The cigar debuted at the company’s Barn Smoker events in 2023, though retailers who wanted the cigar could attend the event and, if they qualified, would be able to purchase up to five boxes of the cigar for sale at their store.
Finally, the company announced that it will be doing its next Freestyle Live event in October, and there will once again be an event pack that consumers can purchase with unbanded, pre-release cigars. Breaking with tradition, the company said that the cigars will come from the Deadwood portfolio of products, which is known for using aromatic and exotic tobaccos that bring out the natural sweetness of the cigars, and includes the Sweet Jane, Fat Bottom Betty, and Crazy Alice lines. The company is calling it the “Guess the Girl” pack, and it will come with several cigar accessories as usual.
Those cigars are expected to be on store shelves next week, as the company will begin shipping them on Thursday, Aug. 22.
The event will include the giveaway of a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy 11 motorcycle as well as a custom-made cigar humidor, with prizes for both consumers and retailers.
Rounding out the announcements was that the company’s “West Coast Situation” will occur on Feb. 22, 2025 at Heritage at Sportsmans Park in Glendale, Ariz., just west of Phoenix and adjacent to State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals. Tickets for that event are scheduled to go on sale on Oct. 24.
More details are expected to be announced in the coming days.
