Drew Estate has announced pricing changes for 2018, effective July 12.

While the majority of those changes are resulting in some sort of increases, not every line is increasing. For example, ACID Red and Yellow are decreasing 25 cents per box of on the wholesale level, while ACID Blue is increasing across most SKUs.

The changes range from the decrease to some cigars increasing over 10 percent in price.

“Last year we embarked on a three-year price adjustment phasing initiative that aims to better align types and sizes while also providing a clear path to simplify and streamline for ease of use,” wrote David Lazarus, the company’s wvp of sales, in a letter to retailers. “Despite significant increasing cost pressures, we will continue to seek the delicate balance between cost control vs. optimum price point alignment. We will do what is necessary to adjust pricing accordingly with our consumers and customers’ needs top of mind. We are grateful for the feedback provided to keep us grounded in this pursuit.”

In some cases, vitolas in a line are both increasing and decreasing in price. For example, the company’s MUWAT Kentucky Fire Cured line will see its Just a Friend (6 x 52) will increase in price, whereas the Fat Molly will decrease in price.

All of the Liga Privada lines will remain at their current pricing.

While most companies typically enact new pricing in the early parts of the year, Drew Estate traditionally adjusts pricing in the summer, shortly before the annual IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, which begins this year on July 13.
