Pure Aroma Cigars’ D’Crossier Golden Blend Series is getting a new line extension, as the company has announced Refinados, a line named for the refinement it is said to obtain after two years of aging.

The blend features an Ecuadorian habano colorado wrapper that has been triple fermented over a 10-month period and then aged for a year in Spanish cedar boxes. The filler comes from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic using tobaccos that have been aged for five years. The company is not disclosing details about the binder.

The line is offered in three sizes, which are produced at Tabacos de Costa Rica:

  • D’Crossier Golden Blend Refinados Magnificos (5 1/2 x 52) — $23 (Box of 25, $575)
  • D’Crossier Golden Blend Refinados Imperiales (5 1/2 x 56) — $24 (Box of 25, $600)
  • D’Crossier Golden Blend Refinados Wide Toro (5 1/2 x 58) — $25 (Box of 25, $625)

In addition to the aging that the cigars receive, the company said that each individual cigar gets weighed to ensure proper draw and quality of construction. They are rolled in the entubar method and triple capped, then placed in breathable cellophane that has been punch-cut at the top to allow the head of the cigar to breathe. The cigars are then packed in Spanish cedar boxes, with the first batch limited to 2,000 individually numbered boxes across the three sizes. The plan is to have the next batch of cigars ready to go once this initial batch has been exhausted, which Diaz estimated would be a ship date in mid-2024. He said that batch is currently aging.

Additionally, each batch will be differentiated by way of a stamp on the bottom of the box that will show the batch number.

“The Golden Blend is the chase of my lifetime,” said Isaias Santana Diaz, founder and creator of D’Crossier Cigars, via a press release. “I’ll not stop until I’m fully satisfied and convinced that the Golden Blend has been accomplished, it is a dream cigar with sufficient time to age and rolled with the best tobaccos in the world, with God’s grace and a fortune call of luck, I’ll be able to fulfill this dream, the ultimate Golden Blend that I can smell and taste in my imagination.”

The D’Crossier Golden Blend Refinados is set to begin shipping to retailers on December 2.

Shortly after this story was updated, Diaz clarified that the binder is not being disclosed, as well as additional information about production numbers and subsequent batches. That information has been added to the story.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
