There’s a new Davidoff Flagship Store headed for Lower Manhattan in New York City, a 2,000-square-foot space that’s part of the newly-renovated Brookfield Place.

Properly known as the “Davidoff of Geneva – since 1911” Flagship store, it will feature three distinct areas: retail space, humidor and lounge. The retail space and humidor go hand in hand, as the former is highlighted by the latter being styled to look like a tobacco barn, with copper and glass accents on top of vintage grey wood.

The lounge will feature a series of photography shot in New York by Dominican artist Polibio Díaz, who visited the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in collaboration with Davidoff and its art program, the Davidoff Art Initiative.

A visual centerpiece inside the store will be a chandelier created by Ontwerpduo called “Light Forest” that is symbolic of the tropical flowers found in the Dominican Republic. The exterior of the store will feature a 40-foot-tall facade of onyx and lights indicating the store’s identity.

“Our mission is to delight and surprise our global consumers worldwide by delivering unique brands and unrivalled retail experiences,” said Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, CEO and board member of Oettinger Davidoff AG, via a press release. “The new Davidoff Flagship Store in New York marks an ambitious new direction for Davidoff offering a complete experience from the expertise of the craft to the enjoyment of the product– following our philosophy ‘Time Beautifully Filled.’”

Jim Young, President of Davidoff of Geneva North America, said that Davidoff’s third store in New York City will provide the ultimate luxury cigar experience to all who visit. The new store and Brookfield Place project is located on the Hudson River across from the World Trade Center site.

This is the second retail store announcement from Davidoff this month, as earlier in December the company announced that the Davidoff of Geneva – since 1911 Buckhead Atlanta store will be opening in spring 2015. The company also has several stores in Las Vegas, Nev.

It is expected that Davidoff will be announcing more flagship stores for the U.S. market in the near future.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
