As expected, the Davidoff Limited Edition 2019 Year of the Pig will debut this month.
This is the eighth consecutive year Davidoff has released a limited edition cigar based on the Chinese zodiac calendar, though the first year was not a global release. Since 2013, the company has celebrated the upcoming Chinese new year by releasing a cigar in November, always with the red and gold color scheme that is popular in China.
The Year of the Pig is a 6 x 56 toro gordo that uses an Ecuadorian habano 2000 wrapper over a Mexican San Andrés binder and five fillers. From the Dominican Republic, there are hybrid olor/piloto visos, piloto secos and piloto visos; while the other two fillers are from Nicaragua: Condega seco and Estelí ligero.
Pricing is set at $39 per cigar and it is limited to 9,300 boxes of 10 cigars.
In addition, the company has created 300 aluminum and leather ashtrays. It is priced at $395 and limited to 300 pieces.
The ashtray is a similar design to the Davidoff 50th Anniversary ashtray.
