If you are hoping to purchase one of Eladio Diaz’s birthday cigars, you might have an opportunity to purchase one on October 14.

That’s when Davidoff’s Vault program will release the Davidoff Siete Oscuro, which the company says was blended by “Davidoff’s Master Blender as a gift to himself and his friends for his 60th birthday.” Diaz left his role as Davidoff’s master blender earlier this year and is planning to open his own factory later this year.

As for the cigar, the Davidoff Siete Oscuro is a 6 x 52 toro that uses a Dominican oscuro wrapper over a Mexican San Andrés negro wrapper over five fillers: Dominican hybrid T2 viso, Dominican piloto viso, Dominican San Vicente mejorado ligero, Dominican Yamasá viso, and Nicaraguan Estelí viso.

The name siete oscuro is a reference to the seven tobaccos used.

Davidoff says these cigars were rolled in 2016. According to the bundle, there appears to be 1,930 bundles of 10 cigars available. Pricing is listed as $320 for a bundle of 10 cigars, which will be sold through the company’s online store.

While Diaz was at Davidoff he would blend a cigar each year to celebrate his birthday. These cigars took on a limited cult following as the cigars tended to keep the complexity that Davidoff is known for, but with a much stronger profile. The only way to get these cigars was to get them from Diaz himself, who would hand them out to friends and family.

Davidoff’s Vault program has seen the company rerelease a variety of previous limited editions, as well as unreleased cigars. These cigars are packaged in paper bundles of 10 and are sold through Davidoff’s online and flagship stores. Some Vault releases have also been offered at a small number of other stores.

Update (Oct. 12, 2021) — The company has corrected the release date to Oct. 14 per an email that was sent out on Monday; it was initially listed as being an Oct. 17 release date. Additionally, pricing information has been added to the story.
