If you are wondering what’s next on the Davidoff of Geneva USA’s makeover list, it’s Zino Platinum.
Following the company’s sales meeting, it became known that Zino Platinum would once again be partnering with UR New York, the Brooklyn-based urban art duo of Mike Baca (2ESAE) and Fernando Romero (SKI).
While UR New York made the design for the Zino Platinum LE 2013 “The Make of New York,” their partnership now will be centered around the brand ambassadors for Zino Platinum.
There are plans for a new cigar, Zino Platinum x UR New York “The Remake.” It’s expected to launch in the second half of the year with Baca and Romero hosting events as part of the launch.
“We are excited to focus our creativity and artistic skills towards creating innovative new products and experiences for a brand that we’ve been so passionate about,” said Romero in a press release. “As innovators and entrepreneurs, we live for disrupting the status quo, which is why we feel UR NEW YORK and ZINO PLATINUM to be a perfect match.”
Zino Platinum launched in 2002 as a method to market higher-end cigars from Davidoff to the rising hip-hop world. The company partnered with Peter Arnell and Steve Stoute and threw parties with Jamie Foxx and Naomi Campbell in attendance.
The brand was dormant as far as new products for all of last year, but now Davidoff of Geneva USA—following successful rebrands of Camacho, Winston Churchill and AVO—is putting a focus on it.
Scott Kolesaire, the AVO brand manager, is now also managing Zino Platinum. Kolesaire will now report to Dylan Austin, who will oversee both AVO and Zino Platinum alongside Camacho, Room101, The Griffin’s and Cusano.
