Two years ago, Davidoff went to Nicaragua for its boldest expansion of its flagship brand; now it’s heading to Brazil.

Some retailers who have recently visited the company’s Cigars Davidoff factory in the Dominican Republic have heard that the company was planning a follow-up to Davidoff Nicaragua. Internally, that project has been known as Black Two, a reference to the black band used on Davidoff Nicaragua. It will be sold as Davidoff Escurio.

The new three-line release is scheduled for this summer using an Ecuadorian wrapper over a filler of Brazilian and Dominican tobacco. Escurio will debut in a Short Robusto (3 1/4 x 50), Robusto (4 1/2 x 54) and Gran Toro (5 1/2 x 58). The Robusto size will be packaged in tubos, and pricing is likely to start just under the $10 mark for the smallest size.

Like the Davidoff Nicaragua, the new line is rolled in the Dominican Republic, the product of Davidoff’s blending team—spearheaded by Henke Kelner and Eladio Diaz. It says the blend was created to be “spicy sweet.”

The cigar is planned for the 2015 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, which takes place in mid-July, but the company should formally announce the remaining details later this month. Packaging is expected to be similar to the Davidoff Nicaragua, featuring a black main band with a different secondary band.

Update (June 12) — Davidoff has confirmed name, basic blend details.
