Davidoff has announced its first new cigar of the new year.

The Davidoff Limited Edition 2019 The Traveller is a new extension to the company’s Winston Churchill series. It uses a Dominican wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés negro wrapper and fillers from the Dominican Republic—criollo seco, piloto mejorado seco and San Vicente mejorado viso—and Nicaragua: Estelí viso and Semilla viso.

It will be offered in two sizes: a 5 x 50 robusto that will be sold worldwide and a a 5 x 43 corona that will be sold in duty-free markets outside the U.S.

The Robusto is limited to 8,000 boxes of 10 cigars, while the Corona is limited to 4,500 packs of five. It is slated to begin shipping in January. Pricing for the Robusto is $29.90 per cigar.

“After the successful launch of the Winston Churchill ‘The Original Collection’ in 2014, and the great success of the more intense ‘The Late Hour’ line, with the industry’s first, unique scotch cask-aged blend, our Master Blenders have taken on the challenge to create another complex multi-origin blend inspired by Winston Churchill’s rich character,” said Sybille Johner, head of brand marketing at Oettinger Davidoff AG, in a press release. “Sir Winston was an explorer, a Traveller, all the time widening his horizons, exploring new places and trying new things. We wanted this limited edition to celebrate this facet of his character and our Master Blenders have done an amazing job at crafting a beautiful, extremely balanced Robusto cigar that will take aficionados on an exciting sensory journey.”

In addition, Davidoff will release a variety of accessories with the Traveller branding: two humidors ($1,550/$2,050), an ashtray ($390), a cutter ($295) and a travel case ($199).

Note: Davidoff’s European marketing staff refers to the cigar as Traveller with two Ls, the British spelling of the word.
