The Cohiba Nicaragua line from General Cigar Co. will be getting its fifth vitola in the coming weeks, as the company is set to begin shipping the 4 3/16 x 36 Pequeños vitola to retailers in mid-May.

While it’s the smallest vitola in the line, the company promises that it won’t be short on flavor, as it uses the same premium tobaccos found in the other sizes of Cohiba Nicaragua, a blend that includes a Honduran Jamastran Colorado oscuro wrapper over a Nicaraguan core, as the binder comes from Jalapa while the filler adds tobacco from Estelí. The result is a full flavored cigar with bold notes of spice and touches of sweetness.

The company has experienced a good amount of success with the Pequeño size in other lines and believes it will also be a winner n the Cohiba Nicaragua line. “The Pequeño frontmark is a best seller in both the Cohiba Red Dot and Black collections, so we brought this popular size to the Nicaragua line to accommodate a broader range of smoking occasions,” said to Steve Abbott, senior brand manager for Cohiba via a press release. “We are confident it will be a strong selling addition to the collection.”

The Cohiba Nicaragua Pequeños is offered in a tin of six cigars priced at $19.49.

Cohiba Nicaragua debuted in 2014 and is the first cigar in the line to be made in Nicaragua, with the STG Estelí factory responsible for making the line. It is offered in four other sizes, N45 (4 x 45, $9.99), N50 en Crystale (5 x 50, $12.99), N54 (5 x 54, $13.99) and N60 (6 x 60, $14.99).

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
