Later this month, the Tobacconists Association of America (TAA) will gather for its annual convention and meeting and as has been the case for the last few years, there will be exclusive cigars.

CLE Cigar Co. will bring the Eiroa First 20 Years Diadema (8 x 60 x 48), a special blend and size made just for TAA retailers.

Christian Eiroa, founder of CLE Cigar Co., told halfwheel the wrapper used for the cigar is a Mexican seed grown in Honduras at the Eiroa family’s Finca Corojo. The binder and filler are equally unique: a seed the company is calling Victoria because it was originally grown on Generoso Eiroa’s La Victoria farm.

Generoso Eiroa is the late grandfather of Christian Eiroa.

Eiroa First 20 Years celebrates the younger Eiroa’s two decades in the cigar business. The blend was originally released with a corojo wrapper and later a Colorado wrapper.

The TAA is a fairly small group of some of the country’s top tobacconists, about 80 retailers as well as 40 or so manufacturers. The association gathers annually to discuss issues facing the industry and retailers, as well as to have its annual trade show, a unique event that works on a group buying format in order to secure exclusive deals for these generally high-volume merchants.

This year the TAA celebrates its 50th anniversary with the annual meeting kicking off April 29.

Pricing is set at $18 per cigar. Eiroa told halfwheel that he expects to begin shipping the cigars in May.
