Cigar accessories are generally considered to be handheld items, but CigarzUp is looking to change that by introducing the Cigar Butler, a foot-operated lighter and cutter intended to allow cigar shops and lounges to offer their customers a hands-free experience.

The Cigar Butler has taken a popular cigar cutter that offers multiple cutting options and what is described as a “durable, reliable single torch lighter with a large butane reservoir,” and then built a conversion kit that allows those two items to be used hands-free by way of a pair of foot pedals.

“We understand that cigar enthusiasts take pride in the ritual of lighting and cutting their cigars, and we believe that our hands-free solution will elevate that experience to new heights,” the company said in a press release. “With our freestanding cigar cutter and lighter, you can rest assured that you and your guests will have a safe and hygienic way of cutting and lighting cigars without having to touch previously handled cutters and lighters.”

CigarzUp also says that the Cigar Butler, which is made in the U.S.A., will help eliminate missing cutters and lighters. “Our freestanding design ensures that this daily occurrence is in the past.”

The Cigar Butler is priced at $1,199 for a version without backlighting and $1,499 for a version with a backlit logo. The company said it is working on additional color and design options, with plans to have three or four available in the near future. The company is not yet offering the product for retail sale to consumers.

The Cigar Butler is scheduled to begin shipping in mid-May and will be featured in the company’s booth at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show in July.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
