Cigar Golf Club Announces Debut

While it’s a new company, the name is quite familiar.

Cigar Golf Club has announced that it is prepared to release its cigars. Cigar Golf Club is the project of Alexandra Plasencia, a member of the Plasencia family known for its cigar operations in Honduras and Nicaragua.

“Our focus is to ‘Share our Passion’ of golf and enjoy the taste of a premium handmade with the fellow golfers,” said Plasencia in a press release. “Golf is not only a competitive playing sport to challenge yourself on the course, but it’s also the comradery, friendships and business relationships you build on and after a gold round while enjoying a handmade exclusive premium cigar.”

The company is releasing five blends, all in a single 6 x 50 size. Each size is named after a golf term.

The Eighteen uses an Ecuadorian habano viso wrapper, a Nicaraguan habano binder from Estelí and Nicaraguan fillers from Estelí, Jalapa and Omtepe. Suggested retail pricing is $15.

Slightly less expensive is The Green, which is described as “medium-bold.” It uses a habano wrapper from Jalapa, a habano binder from Jalapa and four fillers: ligero from the Jamastran Valley in Honduras and Nicaraguan tobaccos from Condega, Jalapa and Ometepe. Suggested retail pricing is $12.

The final three blends are all priced at $9. The Driver uses a Jalapa wrapper, a binder from Jalapa and fillers from Condega, Estelí and Ometepe. The Fairway and The Wedge both uses a Connecticut-seed wrapper from Talanga, Honduras. Both also uses a Jalapa binder.

The differences are The Fairway uses Costa Rica, Jamastran and Nicaraguan fillers from Estelí and Jalapa. The Wedge uses all Nicaraguan fillers: habano tobaccos from Jalapa and Ometepe.

In addition to a traditional distribution, the cigars will also be sold as part of the Cigar Golf Club monthly subscription, which will see cigars shipped directly to consumers.

All the cigars are produced at Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua.
