On Fri., Feb. 5, retail members of the Limited Cigar Association will begin offering the organization’s newest exclusive release, Cigabon by Jochy Blanco.

The cigar is a 5 x 50 robusto, with the blend using an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, Dominican corojo binder grown in the Jacagua region, and a mix of piloto cubano seco, criollo 98 ligero, and Dominican olor ligero. It is produced at Tabacalera Palma in the Dominican Republic, which Blanco owns.

Pricing is set at $10.50 per cigar, before taxes. Production numbers are not being disclosed.

The name is a nod to the cinnamon roll flavor that the blend offers, according to Brian Desind, making reference to Cinnabon, the well-known food chain often found in shopping malls and airports.

Update (Feb. 4, 2021) — The video in which Brian Desind of the Limited Cigar Association referenced Cinnabon in the context of describing the cigar’s flavor has been made private.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
