Chinnock Cellars Cigars will have a new, smaller version of its Terroir cigar up for sale at the 2017 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, a 5 x 43 vitola called the Terroir – Petit.

The cigar will look much the same as its bigger sibling, a 6 x 54 torpedo released in August 2012, as it will wear the same pewter metal band. However, this version gets a full bun head that will help give it a distinctive look.

The blend remains the same as well, with an Ecuadorian Deflorada wrapper, Ecuadorian binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. As part of the aging process, after the wrapper leaf and cap are applied, the cigars begin a three-month rest in new, medium toast French oak barrels to impart some additional flavors during the aging process. Chinnock describes the cigars as being medium-bodied with a smooth, creamy flavor, a nutty finish and the subtle aromas of a fine wine cellar.

Chinnock is making just 1,000 cigars for the first widespread release of the new vitola and will offer them in bundles of both five and 10 cigars to his top accounts, he told halfwheel. Each cigar will be priced at $11.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
