The list of exclusives for Thompson Cigar keeps growing.

Next week, the Casa Fernandez Reserva Connecticut will arrive at the Tampa-based retailer, a project two years in the making. It uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, dual Nicaraguan corojo 99 binders from Jalapa and corojo 99 and criollo 98 fillers from Estelí and Jalapa.

“Bryan Bird and (myself) started this project 2 years ago with Paul Palmer and Pete Hernandez,” said Chris Szeglowski, director of catalog marketing for Thompson, in an email to halfwheel.

“We felt that a CT blend from Casa Fernandez would be ideal for Thompson Cigar. It’s a limited production item (but ongoing), and exclusive to Thompson Cigar Company.”

This is the first time Casa Fernandez has made a Connecticut-wrapped cigar with its name on it.

The release is a regular production item limited in production. It will start in a single 6 x 52 size with a suggested retail price of $87.50. When the cigar goes on sale next week, it will have a promotional price of $49.95 per box of 10.

Production is being handled at Casa Fernandez’s Estelí, Nicaragua-based factory, Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. (TABSA).
