Casa Fernández Rebrands to AGANORSA Leaf

Casa Fernández is now AGANORSA Leaf.

The company is changing its name, transitioning from a name that references its owner to one that ties in with the larger agricultural empire of which it is a part.

AGANORSA stands for Agricola Norteña S.A., a company owned by Eduardo Fernández Pujals, that includes livestock, tobacco growing and cigar rolling. It’s most known for growing leaf in Nicaragua, which it sells to a laundry list of companies, but it also operates the Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. (TABSA) factory, as well as factories in Jalapa and Miami.

The AGANORSA name has appeared on Casa Fernández cigars before, but the company behind selling cigars has been referred to as Casa Fernandez or Tabacalera Tropical, the predecessor.

“AGANORSA tobacco is our strength,” said Terence Reilly, vp of sales and marketing, in a press release. “It’s essential cigar aficionados associate our cigars with the incredible leaf we grow. Changing our name to AGANORSA LEAF is a crucial step towards that goal.”

The company says that the Casa Fernández brands will remain the same, but they will be updated to include the AGANORSA Leaf name.

“Since day one the leaf that we grow in Nicaragua has made our cigars distinctive in flavor and aroma,” said Max Fernández. “AGANORSA tobacco has always been unique. You can recognize it when you taste a cigar made by us. With AGANORSA LEAF hopefully people enjoy the same experience I have; from the early days when I walked into tobacco fermentation barns and cigar factories as a kid with my father Eduardo, Arsenio and our team of experts. The aroma and experience lingers in your memory, and it will forever stay with you.
