The southeastern Massachusetts town of Carver has signed on to the growing movement to raise the minimum age to purchase tobacco products to 21, as the town’s board of health unanimously approved the increase during its meeting on Friday night.

The new minimum purchase age goes into effect on July 1.

Carver is located in Plymouth County, approximately 45 miles south of Boston. It had a 2010 population estimate of 11,509 people.
