Smoking outside in downtown Cañon City, Colo. might soon be a thing of the past.

Earlier this week, City Attorney John Havens pushed for the Cañon City General Government Committee to ban smoking in the Cañon City Central Business District. The Colorado Clean Air Act states by default that a 15-foot no smoking radius around any entrance, but Cañon City, a home rule municipality, choose to eliminate that standard meaning there is no non-smoking zone around an entrance.

According to the Cañon City Daily Record, Mayor Tony Greer is pushing for a smaller no smoking area, one that would just be applicable on Main Street.

Cañon City is located in Fremont County on the Arkansas River in the central part of the state, about 35 miles southwest of Colorado Springs. It has a population around 15,000.
