The Camacho Diploma, one of the brand’s classic and boldest releases, will soon be back on stores by way of a limited edition release that is set to launch on Nov. 1.

Today the company announced the Camacho Diploma Special Selection, a 5 x 54 robusto that is a puro of Honduran corojo and limited to just 1,800 boxes of 18 individually coffined cigars. It comes priced at $20 per cigar and $360 per box.

“The original Camacho Diploma was for many years the most heralded cigar coming out of our factory in Honduras,” said Dylan Austin, vp of marketing at Davidoff of Geneva USA, via a press release. “A cigar where no compromise is made on the quality of construction and on the tobaccos, each high priming leaf is handselected by our supervisors and each cigar rolled by our top five pairs. After many years, we are excited to be able to resurrect this special cigar and share it once again with aficionados across the globe,” he added.

The Camacho Diploma Special Selection is being added as a once-a-year release, with production handled by Diadema Cigars de Honduras S.A., the recently opened Camacho factory in Danlí, Honduras.

The Diploma was discontinued in April 2015, though it did manage to survive the brand’s makeover in 2013, albeit with a new blend. Originally introduced as a Honduran puro, the blend was changed to an Ecuadorian habana 2000 wrapper, a Honduran corojo ligero binder, and fillers of Honduran corojo, criollo ligero and Dominican Navarette ligero.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
