Trouble is back.

Caldwell Cigar Co. has released a small number of its special edition Blind Man’s Bluff robusto, called This Is Trouble. The 5 x 52 robusto debuted last year and uses a completely different blend than the regular Blind Man’s Bluff or any of the other regular production variants. Specifically, it has a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a Dominican binder and three different fillers: Dominican corojo, Dominican double ligero and habano seeds grown in Estelí, Nicaragua.

Last year’s release was limited to 1,000 boxes of 20 cigars, but only 200 boxes are heading to stores for 2022. Robert Caldwell told halfwheel that the company had 200 boxes at its warehouse in Miami when a fire broke out at Tabacalera William Ventura on Sept. 26. The fire damaged the cigars at the factory, meaning just the 200 boxes that were already shipped to Miami survived.

Earlier this week, the Ventura family announced that it was breaking ground on a new factory within the same free trade zone. It hopes to have the factory opened by September 2024, though it will make cigars at its smaller El Maestro factory in the meantime.

This is Trouble has an MSRP of $12 per cigar, up from $10 for the 2021 release.
