The Cain Daytona Lancero is back.

Later this month, Tobacco Grove of Maple Grove, Minn. will receive 250 boxes of the limited edition cigar as part of the store’s 20th anniversary celebration.

The Cain Daytona Lancero, which measures 7 x 38, first made an appearance at the 2011 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show in the form of a few bundles that were given out to people that knew certain employees of Oliva. It also managed to win an award from Cigar Journal.

A few months prior, Cigar Journal was visiting the Oliva factory in Nicaragua and Carlos Oliva gave the magazine some cigars. They returned home and rated the cigars very highly, naming it the magazine’s 2011 Nicaraguan cigar of the year.

That forced Oliva to scramble a bit and it was ultimately decided that the Cain Daytona Lancero would be released in the STUDIO TOBAC Lancero Exclusive Collection, which included four Cain Daytona Lanceros, four Cain F Lanceros and one Culebra. The sampler was limited to 500 units and had a suggested retail price of $120.

In addition, the cigar was included in the STUDIO TOBAC World Tour Sampler in 2012 which was offered at events. Since then, the cigar has not been available.

Tobacco Grove will receive 250 boxes of 18, the first time the cigar has been sold by itself. It will sell 100 boxes in its store with 150 sold online. The cigars for this release were rolled last year.

Pricing will be $143.82 per box for out of state customers, but Minnesota-based customers will have to pay a lot more due to the state’s high tax on cigars.

A representative from the store told halfwheel the store could have one or two more exclusives for its 20th anniversary.

The cigars are available for pre-order here.
