Bugatti Group, which just last week announced a pair of new lighters, has announced a pair of new cigars that will be shipping to stores in the coming weeks.

The Bugatti Monte Carlo line is being released in two blends, the Monte Carlo Gold and Monte Carlo Platinum. Both are described as being medium to full-bodied, with the Gold using a Brazilian cubra wrapper over a Dominican criollo 98 binder from the country’s Cotuí region, while the fillers come from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Peru. The Platinum blend uses a Dominican wrapper, Nicaraguan binder from the Jalapa region and a mix of fillers from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Peru. The company describes the Gold’s blend as being marked by dark tobacco, chocolate and coffee while the Platinum is creamier with flavors of nuts, coffee, raisin and cedar.

Both blends are being released in a compact 3 1/2 x 46 half corona that comes priced at $6.95 and is offered in 25-count boxes. The Gold Blend also adds two additional sizes: a 5 x 52 Robusto priced at $9.50 and a 6 x 54 Toro offered at $10. The Robusto comes in 20-count boxes, while the Toro is packaged in 18-count boxes.

Both lines are regular production and are being produced by the Kelner Boutique Factory in the Dominican Republic.

Derrick Hinnendael, general manager of Bugatti Group, told halfwheel that he is expecting the first batch to arrive at the company’s office around the end of May and will begin shipping to retailers shortly thereafter. The company will also have the cigars on display at the 2019 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, which runs from June 28 – July 2 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

An earlier version of this article indicated that both cigars used the same blend components, though Bugatti Group has sent a correction indicating the correct blend components. The article has been updated.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
