The Weekly News will return for the first time since April 8. It has been relatively absent since the end of February for two central reasons. First and foremost, time—something that is now more available than it has been for the early portions of 2013. Secondly, I wondered the value of it.

What we’ve learned is that people do like, but a lot less than I imagined. Ultimately, I think this is because of how the column’s relationship to the rest of the site’s news coverage has changed. When it first started, news was not getting standalone posts—at this point, that has obviously changed.

As such, what’s left in the column is generally regurgitation of hints and tidbits, along with links to all of the site’s other stories. This obviously needs to change and I imagine that by July, there will be a slightly altered format, one that can continue to grow and prosper while being more than a filler. For now however, the old will return.

Any thoughts about what you’d like to see in it would be much appreciated.
