In celebration of this year being the year of the tiger on the Chinese zodiac calendar, Black Works Studio will offer its Tiger Series at select events throughout the year. Previously, Black Works has only offered the cigars to European accounts or as “factory exclusives.”

Black Works Studio’s Tiger Series consists of a trio of cigars, each featuring three different wrappers. All three cigars use a combination of Candela, Connecticut and Ecuadorian maduro tobaccos for wrappers over an Ecuadorian habano binder and Nicaraguan fillers. It’s unclear whether the filler blend or ratios are the same, but what is obviously different is which wrapper is most visible and the sizes of the cigars.

The Neon Tiger is probably, to this point, the most popular of the trio; it is a 5 x 48 parejo that sees the Candela wrapper as the most visible leaf. The Khan is a 5 x 50 robusto with a unique coil cap. For this cigar, the Ecuadorian maduro is the most visible wrapper. Finally, Tiger Lilly is a 6 x 48 parejo that shows more of the Connecticut wrapper than the other two.

All three cigars will have an MSRP of $18 per cigar and are sold in boxes of 13.

“Given it’s the Year of the Tiger we wanted to release our Tiger Series in the US,” said James Brown, founder of Black Works Studio, in a press release. “These have previously only been available in Europe and as Factory Exclusives since 2017. These cigars will be released as event only boxes in very limited quantities. I wanted to offer something special for our retailers who support us with events.”

The company says the cigars will be available at events beginning this month.

Black Works Studio is made at Fábrica Oveja Negra. James and Angela Brown also own Black Label Trading Co.
