Black Works Studio Hawaii KATO Heading to R. Field Wine Co.
Black Label Trading Co.’s fans in Hawaii will soon have their very own version of the KATO to smoke, as today the company announced that it will be sending the Black Works Studio Hawaii KATO to the islands as an exclusive for R. Field Wine Co.
The cigar is a 5 x 48 robusto that is described as a tweaked version of the company’s event-only Kato blend, with a larger vitola and stronger version of the original blend, according to James Brown, creator of Black Label Trading Co. and partner at Fabrica Oveja Negra, the Estelí, Nicaragua factory where the cigars are made. It uses an Ecuadorian maduro wrapper accented by a candela swirl, with a Nicaraguan habano binder and Nicaraguan filler.
The cigar will be priced at $10 and will come in 10-packs, and while it is a limited edition, production numbers are not being disclosed. It is the third exclusive release that Black Label Trading Co. has created for R. Field Wine Co., joining the Ligero Hawaii from 2018 and the Black Label Trading Co. Last Rites Box Press Robusto, which became a store exclusive for the retailer in April 2017.
The Black Works Studio Hawaii KATO will get its release during an event on Oct. 4 at the Prince Waikiki Hotel in Honolulu hosted by R. Field Wine Co.
Black Label Trading Co. released the original Black Works Studio Green Hornet Kato in March 2017 as an event-only 4 1/2 x 46 corona extra. Black Works Studio, which is often stylized as BLK WKS, was launched in November 2015 as a way to showcase the creative ability of Fabrica Oveja Negra and bring new projects to market.
