Black Label Trading Co. is branching out into a world of new tobaccos and vitolas for its upcoming release, an addition to its Deliverance line called Nocturne.

It uses a Pennsylvania broadleaf wrapper with a Nicaraguan habano binder and a filler of Nicaraguan tobacco and Pennsylvania ligero. This new blend is being rolled in a pair of salomon vitolas with a blunt foot, or what the company calls a “Snub Nose.”

The Deliverance Nocturne Salomon Snub Nose measures 6 1/4 x 36 x 56 and comes in 12-count boxes with a price tag of $12 per cigar.

A smaller version is also available; the smaller Short Salomon Snub Nose measures 4 3/4 x 40 x 56 and comes in 18-count boxes, with a price tag of $10 per cigar.

The initial run of both sizes is 150 boxes, with similar quantities being made throughout the year. The cigar is being made at BLTC’s Fabrica Oveja Negra factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. It will be presented at the IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, which begins on July 17, and is expected to ship to retailers on Sept. 19.

The company has said it will be expanding the Nocturne line with more vitolas in the future, though a timeline for those has not been established and the two salomones will remain in the catalog.

Shortly after this story was published, a representative from Black Label Trading Co. provided pricing as well as details about production and future plans for the line, which have been added to the story.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
