Black Label Trading Company has announced its second new project in the past week, a new store exclusive for Underground Cigar Shop in Fort Worth, Texas that is scheduled to arrive in November.

“BLTC and the Underground have a lot of history,” said James Brown, founder of Black Label Trading Co. via a press release, adding that “the Underground” was one of BLTC’s first big supporters whenthe brand was launched. “Making a cigar for the Underground is just a natural progression of the mutual support our companies have for each other,” Brown added.

The Catacomb is the first private label release for Black Label Trading Co. and comes from a “less is more” philosophy that Brown said he shares with Don Wiggins, owner of Underground Cigar Shop. The blend is a 100% Nicaraguan puro, using a maduro wrapper and a habano oscuro binder to create a medium to full bodied profile with intense flavors of bitter chocolate, coffee and spice.

The new cigar is being released in two sizes, a 5 x 54 robusto and 6 x 50, both of which come in ten-count boxes. Production is limited to 125 boxes of each size, with pricing yet to be confirmed, though a post on the store’s Facebook page indicates that both are $115 per box. The store has already opened up pre-orders for the cigar, with a deadline of Oct. 4 to make a pre-payment to secure a box.

Earlier this week, Black Label Trading Co. announced a new limited edition line called Deliverance, which is also slated for a November release but will be made available to all BLTC retailers. Both cigars are made at Tabacaleria Santiago de Nicaragua in Estelí, Nicaragua.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
