The original vitola of the Benji Menendez Partagas Master Series is slated to return to retail shelves this spring along with a new vitola, according to a source familiar with the pending announcement.
The 6 x 46 Majestuoso vitola debuted in 2009 to critical acclaim, as Menendez combined a Cameroon wrapper with Dominican filler and binder to produce an incredibly flavorful cigar that came with an MSRP of just under $10.
There is also a new Prominentes size slated to be added to the Benji Menendez Partagas Master Series. While the specific measurements have not been released, the traditional Prominentes size is 7 5/8 x 49.
The Benji Menendez Partagas Master Series recently added a 6 x 54 Toro called the LX that began shipping in November. It is a limited release with production capped at 5,000 boxes, each containing 18 cigars. That cigar has an MSRP of $10.75 per cigar and $193.50 per box. The LX blend consists of a Cameroon wrapper over a Connecticut Havana-seed binder with a filler blend of Dominican Piloto Cubano and Nicaraguan tobacco, including some from Ometepe. The name signifies Menendez’s 60 years in the industry, as LX is 60 in Roman numerals.
As with the original release, the Majestuosos and Prominentes vitolas of the Partagas Benji Menendez Master Series are being made at General Cigar Dominicana in Santiago. The release date is currently schedule for April and May.
