The AVO brand is heading to South America. Sort of.

Later this month, Davidoff of Geneva USA will begin shipping the AVO Syncro South America Ritmo, the third in the company’s Syncro series. This release uses an Ecuadorian wrapper, Mexican binder and five fillers: Brazil, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Nicaragua and Peru.

It is offered in four box-pressed sizes:

  • AVO Syncro South America Ritmo Robusto (5 x 50) — $10.90 (Box of 20, $218)
  • AVO Syncro South America Ritmo Toro (6 x 54) — $11.90 (Box of 20, $238)
  • AVO Syncro South America Ritmo Special Toro (6 x 60) — $12.90 (Box of 20, $258)
  • AVO Syncro South America Ritmo Torpedo Largo (7 x 54) — $13.90 (Box of 20, $278)

Ritmo is the Spanish word for rhythm.

“This fusion of tobaccos spanning across seven different countries of origin results in the most intense flavor profile within the AVO portfolio,” said Charles Awad, svp and chief marketing officer at Oettinger Davidoff AG, in a press release. “The untamed rhythm and unmatched complexity of the AVO Syncro South America Ritmo will excite aficionados from around the globe with a new experience to savor every note.”

While the cigar was shipped to a few retailers prior to Aug. 8, 2016, a deadline for new products set by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), it will formally ship on May 22. The company says it has no plans to ship this cigar to markets outside the U.S.

This is the first new brand to be released since Avo Uvezian, the brand’s founder, passed away in March.
