This year the AVO brand celebrates its 30th anniversary. It is doing so with a handful of new releases—including bringing back two former lines and two storied limited editions.

There is, however, one new cigar: AVO Improvisation 30 Years. But even that new distinction is murky, as the cigar is based on the AVO Classic No. 3. Improvisation 30 Years is described as a “twist” on the popular cigar. It uses an Ecuadorian marron wrapper, a Dominican binder and Dominican fillers.

Like the Classic No. 3, it measures 7 1/2 x 50.

It carries a white main band, which the brand is using on its other two 30th Anniversary limited editions, as well as the 30th Anniversary secondary band.

Pricing is set at $16 per cigar and production is limited to 2,400 boxes of 25 cigars.

The boxes feature a pattern made to mimic the signature straw hat of the brand’s founder, the late Avo Uvezian. In addition, the orange bar that runs across the top box is made to mimic the texture of the hat.

The AVO Improvisation 30 Years will ship on March 15.

Update (Mar. 21, 2018) — the original version of this article misidentified the release as coming in 15-count boxes; they are packaged 25 cigars to a box. We regret the error.
