The AVO brand will be celebrating the four seasons with its newest limited edition series, which kicks off with a cigar that celebrates spring.

In total, there are four different blends—one for each season—all of which will be sold in a 6 5/8 x 50 diadema vitola. Each cigar will have an MSRP of $18 and will be limited to 4,000 boxes of 10 cigars.

The first release will be the AVO Seasons Limited Edition Series 2023 Spring which will begin shipping in late March.

The blend uses an Ecuadorian corojo wrapper, while the binder and filler come from the Dominican Republic. According to a press release from the company, Dominican San Vicente seco and hybrid 192 visos are in the filler and contribute to an aroma reminiscent of spring, with one of the fillers having been aged for 14 years. The company says the overall profile is marked by flavors of wood, cream and coffee.

The next cigar will celebrate summer, with a blend highlighted by an Ecuadorian corojo wrapper, Mexican binder and Dominican fillers, one of which has also been aged for 14 years. The company says the profile is vibrant with an intensity level that reflects summer’s ever-present heat.

Fall’s blend uses a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper and Dominican tobaccos for the binder and filler, and once again some of the filler has been aged for 14 years. The company says the profile offers complex notes of dried fruits, mixed nuts and sweet spice that get complemented by creaminess.

Finally, the Winter blend delivers an herbal and woody profile, accented by creaminess and baking spices. It uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper and Dominican tobaccos for the binder and filler. It too features a tobacco that has been aged for 14 years in its filler.

“This special release has been carefully created by our Master Blenders who have worked with tobaccos across multi-faceted origins to craft the perfect seasonal blends. Tobaccos from each cigar can be found from diverse growing regions such as Ecuador and the Dominican Republic, with tobacco aged for up to 14 years,” said Edward Simon, CMO at Oettinger Davidoff. “We encourage our aficionados to enjoy each cigar while experiencing a moment unique to each season: walking through a garden in spring, watching the setting sun on a summer evening, feeling the air turn crisp as autumn leaves fall, and sitting by a crackling fire in winter.”

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
