As the InterTabac 2024 trade fair gets underway in Dortmund, Germany this week, Artista Cigars announced that it is giving its Cimarron and Puro Ambar lines new packaging, a slightly new name, and dropping two Cimarron lines from its portfolio.
The two lines are now known as Artista Cimarron and Artista Puro Ambar, a slight change but one with the company says helps clearly position them within its portfolio. “This is a logical step for our older marks that previously existed as stand-alone brands,” said Kevin Newman, vp of Artista Cigars, via a press release. “Now retailers and consumers will be able to easily classify and identify these brands as part of the Artista family.”
In the press release announcing the changes, the company said that the redesign exhibits a distinctly Artista style with angular lines, distinct colors to denote blend differences, and the Artista logo on the band and box, while the design execution clearly separates Artista Cimarron and Artista Puro Ambar from the more expensive Artista Series.
As part of the changes, the company is dropping the Cimarron Connecticut and Cimarron Habano, the latter of which was an exclusive to Europe. That leaves the Cimarron Maduro, which will be offered in its three original sizes, a 5 x 54 robusto, a 6 x 50 toro, and a 6 x 60 doble toro. The Cimarron Maduro uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a Dominican negrito binder, and a filler that includes Dominican T13 ligero as well as tobacco from Colombia, broadleaf from the U.S., and a Dominican corojo viso.
The line’s name is a reference to the Cimarron region in the southern U.S. that runs roughly from Oklahoma to Colorado.
Puro Ambar, one of the original lines in the El Artista Cigars portfolio, will also be available in the three sizes it has been offered in since 2020, a 5 1/2 x 42 corona, a 5 x 50 robusto, and a 6 x 54 toro. Its blend remains the same as well, a Dominican puro that uses a habano-seed wrapper and a hybrid olor binder.
Both lines are offered in 20-count boxes. The new packaging will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2025.
